Arts 4 Us

In an effort to promote an appreciation for the arts and engage local families in the creative and cultural benefits of Berkshire County, The Center for Peace Through Culture (CPC) proposed a collaborative project with the Norman Rockwell Museum (NRM) and Jacobs Pillow (JP).

Arts 4 Us

The pilot project, “Arts 4 Us,” was designed to help bridge the gap in opportunities for underserved families to participate in a rich cultural experience with their children, and to address the social exclusion and insider/outsider perceptions that exist for many of the year-round residents. The project was supported by a Grant, awarded by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation's (BTCF) Arts Build Community initiative with funding from the Barr Foundation.

Arts 4 Us

In the model for the “Arts for Us” project, providing an ambassador to help families navigate the cultural experience was paramount.  CPC ambassador, Trudy Manion, arranged, coordinated and accompanied each of the families to the NRM and JP venue, complete with transportation, tickets and a meal.  Overwhelmingly, the families were delighted with what the venue had to offer and expressed sheer joy at the many meaningful moments they were able to experience as a family during their visit!  Plans to develop the “Ambassador Model” with BTCF are in the works for future collaborations.
